"App" is a major buzzword in the franchising world right now. The digital programs for mobile phones have become prolific, with nearly every franchise rolling out, or considering, an "app" for its products. It might be a good idea to check in to whether the franchise you’re interested in is considering an app.
Here are some of the newest apps recently announced:
- Subway’s "location aware" app aims to make it easier for customers to find and order from the nearest store. It should be available by early 2012.
- InterContinental Hotels is rolling out its Priority Rewards app for a Windows phones, providing guests with the functionality to find and book hotel rooms, check rates and view or cancel reservations for IHG’s seven brands. This follows the company’s iPhone booking app; its InterContinental Concierge Insider Guides app for iPad; and Priority Club Rewards app for Android and iPhone.
- RCI, a vacation exchange franchise that is part of Wyndham Worldwide, is releasing a "Share Your Vacation" app for Facebook that allows users to share their vacation information view their friends’ vacations, or all app users’ vacations. They can also browse the posted recommendations, photos and videos to get an idea of what to expect at locations all over the world, which could help plan future vacations.
