Camp Bow Wow is taking on a pack mentality with its latest move, packaging three brands together for franchise sales.
Camp Bow Wow (doggie daycare), Home Buddies (in-home pet care) and Bow Wow Behavior Buddies (training) franchises will be offered through its "One Brand, Three Solutions" program.
The up front costs will not be that much more for franchisees, as the same $50,000 franchise fee applies whether or not a franchise opts to expand all three businesses. However, if they do, the franchise claims an expedited path to profitability.
"Really, the reason behind this was for additional opportunities for revenue for franchisees," says Bow Wow's sales and development director Molly Hanson. "They can literally be the go-to for pet services. Training, boarding day care, really all the essential services."
Camp Bow Wow began testing the new model at six franchises in June 2010.
A somewhat alternative program for smaller cities with populations under 100,000 is the brand's "Mainstreet America" program. Potential franchisees in smaller, metropolitan, territories that can not support a Camp Bow Wow system, will be offered an exception to the program: the purchase of Home Buddies and Bow Wow Behavior Buddies without committing to a Camp Bow Wow location.
"Basically, we're willing to work with people depending on the territory," Hanson says.
