According to the NCA (National Coffee Association), US consumers spent approximately $301 million per day on coffee and related goods in 2022. A recent survey found that 26.9% of coffee drinkers purchase a beverage from their local coffee shop several times a week. The financial case for investing in a coffee franchise is clear, but running a successful coffee business takes more than good coffee. (Though the coffee is still important!)

At Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii, we like to say people come for the coffee, but they keep coming back for the experience. Our unique blend of authenticity, quality coffee, and a sense of community creates a winning combination that turns customers into ‘ohana.

Authentically Aloha

The Bad Ass name is more than a brand; it’s a guiding principle for our craft and a testament to the rich history of the Hawaiian Islands. Inspired by the donkeys of Kona—nicknamed “the bad ass ones” by the locals for their strength, resilience and stubbornness as they carried precious coffee beans up and down the steep mountains—we infuse that same spirit into every cup.

Kona coffee, known as the King of Coffee, owes its unparalleled flavor to the unique blend of volcanic soil, mountain elevation, and island climate, offering a smooth, medium body with hints of fruit and nut flavors. At Bad Ass Coffee, we’re proud to be one of the few coffee franchises offering 100% Kona coffee, fueling our fellow badasses for the day ahead. Over the past 30 years in business, we’ve developed longstanding partnerships with local Hawaiian farms to ensure top-quality beans from sources we know and trust.

Coffee That Creates Community

We don’t just want to just be in the community, we want to be an active part of it. Putting down roots and getting involved is part of our strategy for growing repeat business. Every store must have a charity component to their grand opening, whether that’s supporting the local humane society or raising funds for the local library. Many of our franchisees choose to continue these relationships for years to come.

Our store layouts create inviting environments where customers can rest up, recharge, and refuel to face whatever comes their way. We emphasize a culture of the Aloha Spirit, treating everyone who walks through our doors with respect and kindness.

A Brand You Can Relate To

We offer seriously good coffee without taking ourselves too seriously. Not a coffee connoisseur? Not a problem! After our training, you will be! We put our efforts where it matters in cultivating a positive customer experience with a superior product offering. And don’t worry, you won’t be doing this alone; our franchisees get access to a dedicated network of resources and team members to help them become their own bad ass.

By the Numbers

Our business model provides our franchisees with three distinct revenue streams. In addition to our coffee offerings, all locations feature a curated menu of island-inspired treats, such as malasada donuts and spam sandwiches, and a selection of quality merchandise featuring our mascot, Jack.

Now is the perfect time to become part of our ‘ohana. The Bad Ass brand is expanding fast, and we have plenty of hot territories up for grabs, with more on the way. We’re seeking experienced business professionals to reap the benefits of a proven business model with multiple revenue streams. Visit our website to learn more.
