Matt Wetzel has joined Franchise Times as a writer/editor. A native of Columbus, Ohio, Wetzel, 49, has lived in the Twin Cities off and on since the early 1970s. Most recently he worked as a freelance writer for Neighbors Inc. of South St. Paul and Metromix.com, a Web site devoted to locally owned and operated clubs and restaurants.

He worked as a freelance writer for several other companies and organizations, including the Minnesota Legislature. Prior to that, he worked at a variety of daily newspapers and for a Twin Cities suburban weekly.
He holds a B.A. degree in journalism from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul.
He makes no apologies for being a lifelong fan of both the Minnesota Twins and the Cleveland Browns. He enjoys working out, and has a passion for history, baseball, politics, chili dogs and fried chicken.
