Viewing too many Wendy's ads with the guy wearing the Pippi Longstocking red wig makes us long for the days when advertising was clever, not bizarre. Take this ad, for instance. No way the creepy Wendy dude's message could lick this sweet ad. Thanks to FisherZucker we can once again share their vintage franchise ad collection, so expect to take a walk down memory lane for the next few months.
In case you can't make out the clever copy, here it is:
Baskin-Robbins
"Baskin-Robbins has a 32nd Flavor? Impossible!
Baskin-Robbins is famous for 31 Ice Cream Flavors.
Rich, delicious flavors like Jamoca Almond Fudge. Fresh Banana. German Chocolate Cake. Caramel Rocky Road. And exactly 31 in all.
Not 29. Not 33. But 31. That's what the signs say. And the packages. And the clocks in every store where all twelve numbers are 31.
No, Baskin-Robbins can't have a 32nd Flavor. That's what we said. Until we tasted it. Obviously, we can't afford to let the word get out. (New signs alone would cost a fortune.)
But here's what we will do. We'll let you try our 32nd Flavor only if you promise not to tell anyone. That way we're still 31. And you get to try 32."
