Franchised Motels Welcome Truckers

  • Updated

A number of franchised motel chains are in it for the long haul.

In an attempt to get truckers out of their semi’s sleeper berths, and into hotel beds, franchised hotel brands are lining up to offer a 10-percent discount to "trucking industry professionals."

Microtel; Howard Johnson; Days Inn; Knights Inn; Ramada; Baymont; Wingate; Travelodge; Motel 6; Super 8; and Red Roof Inn are a few of the hotels partnering with Hotels4Truckers.com to book discounted stays.

The average semi has a 75-foot long trailer. Nonetheless, hotel brands are willing to give up the parking spots in the hopes they’ll see a larger return. Motel 6, for example, estimates roughly 20 percent of its business-to-business sales are from the trucking and transportation industry.
