Tech company and Massachusetts-based franchisor Koko FitClub recently signed its first international agreement with RosKo Fitness Inc., who signed on to become a multiunit KoKo FitClub operator in Ontario, Canada. The company expects to have its first location near Toronto open by the end of the year. Koko FitClub co-founder Mike Lannon said although his company was not focused on expanding outside of the United States, it was impressed by how passionate RosKo Fitness’ founders were about building the brand internationally.
"Tony Rossi and Chris Kotsos—the RosKo partners—aggressively pursued the rights to open Koko FitClubs to Canada," said Lannon.
Rossi and Kotsos said they found Koko FitClub’s "Smartraining" fitness model—which the chain claims to help operators maintain a high level of customer service during non-peak hours and without personal trainers—to be unique. "We were looking for a retail business and were intrigued by Koko FitClub's potential to be a game-changing fitness industry leader for millions of Canadians," said Rossi.
Prior to becoming FitClub franchisees, Rossi and Kotsos worked for companies including Konica Minolta, Epson Canada and Rogers Communications. The two have a combined 40 years of marketing and sales experience, and currently operate their own company, SpinCycle Marketing Solutions.
