Company Description
Ohio-based Wendy's is one of the largest burger chains in the world. Founded by the iconic restaurateur Dave Thomas in 1969, Wendy’s is named after a nickname for his daughter Melinda. The burger chain is best known for its signature square patties and Frosty desserts.
Thomas started franchising Wendy’s just a few years after opening the first location in Columbus, Ohio. An adoptee, he founded the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption in 1992, and it continues to be supported by Wendy’s.
A public company (Nasdaq: WEN), Wendy’s now has thousands of locations in the U.S., as well as units in dozens of other countries. The company has gained a large social media following in recent years by posting witty roasts and playing along with meme culture.
